Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide (SOBS)

SOBS are Survivors of Bereavement by Suicide. They provide dedicated support to adults who have been bereaved by suicide.

Talking support

The helpline provides an opportunity to talk confidentially with someone who has been bereaved by suicide and to know that you are not alone in your experience. Lines are open 9 am to 9pm every day. Tel: 0300 111 5065.

There is an email support service for people who prefer to share their experiences and feelings through writing rather than talking.

You can send your email to sobs.support@hotmail.com

Support groups

SOBS have a network of self-help support groups across the UK, where you can meet others people who have been bereaved by suicide.  They provide an opportunity to listen, to share, to ask questions and to connect with others.

Groups are led by a small team of volunteers, most have been bereaved by suicide themselves.   They typically meet once a month and last for around 2 hours.  There is no set structure to the session – people are free to talk and listen as they wish.  Many groups also offer a small resource library and can share information about local sources of support.

Currently the closest group is based in Edinburgh, and meets monthly. For more information about this contact:-
