Kharis Court Housing Support
Bethany Christian Trust provides accommodation in our purpose-built unit in Bathgate called Kharis Court (meaning: “Grace”). Kharis Court is a mixed unit, and offers a residential housing support service to young men and women aged between 16 – 25.
Kharis Court meets a need for a residential housing support service with 24-hour support. Each resident has a dedicated support worker who will support you on a wide range of issues. This support includes help on tenancy issues, group work, special interests, topical discussions, sport, outings and house meetings – as well as a range of learning and recreational opportunities. They provide support that is based on “relationships” with well trained, sensitive and responsive staff.
Staff will encourage “The people who use our services” to make the full use of the resources that are available to them. This may be in terms of tenancy support, financial support, general-wellbeing, health, social and family support, life-skills and support with other professionals. We can also help access, and engage with, education support services, Help for young people to set up in a new tenancy and then maintain their home Support for people to address problems with money, addictions, health and wellbeing, life skills, employment/training, and social engagement.
The overall aim of this support is for vulnerable young people to lead a more independent life- long into the future. This is achieved by enabling residents to develop the skills and confidence to live independently and move into a healthy working life in the future, learn how to manage their disability or mental health issues such that they can live more independently and have a fulfilling life.
Kharis Court can take referrals from Throughcare, Inclusion & Aftercare, West Lothian Council, and other resources such as Open Door and Newlands. The referral needs to be submitted by SSA and or any historical pathways assessment.
