The Action Group
The Action Group provides information, advice and practical assistance to people with learning disabilities or other support needs and their carers and families. They do this through several services.
Welfare Rights and Financial Inclusion services offers advice about your rights and benefits. There are also a range of factsheets online.
Knowing Your Stuff is a project which offers money advice to people with learning disabilities and their carers across Edinburgh, the Lothians and Falkirk.
The project offers free, confidential, money advice on a one-to-one basis. Advice Workers can help with:
- Form Filling
- Paying your bills
- Types of bank account
- Payday loans
- Credit cards
- Bank charges
The Housing And Community Support Service helps people live independently, whether in their own tenancies, in shared accommodation, or in living at home. The service supports people in their own tenancies from a few hours a week up to 24/7 support. The Action group support people to engage in meaningful day-to-day activities, like going to college, volunteering, and going to work. The Service is person-centred around an individual’s needs. These needs cover a wide variety of issues, such as:
- Learning Disabilities
- Autism/ Asperger’s Syndrome
- Mental Health Problems
- Physical Disabilities
- Drug & Alcohol Issues
- History of homelessness
- History of offending behaviours
- Acquired Brain Injuries
- Eating Disorders
